Sunshine
Sunshine is a 7 year old Belgian mare who stands 16.2 hands high. I bought her from the kill pen at the Shipshewana horse auction in November 2006. I saw her and knew I couldn't leave without her. She was untrained but after a short time in training, is now a great mount as well as a pleasure to drive! We have competed as a team in judged trail rides, extreme cowboy events and fun shows. We named our farm after my beloved Sunshine to represent our philosophy against the unnecessary/excessive slaughter of unwanted horses.
Sunshine is currently out on lease until September 2010.
Maddie
Maddie is a 6 year old Belgian/QH X. She stands 16.1 hands. I purchased Maddie last year after a friend told me about her being for sale. I went the very next day and brought her home. Maddie is a former neglect case but was brought back to health by her former owner, Melonie Warner. Melanie did an excellent job of transforming Maddie as well as training her to be a nice riding horse. Thank you Melonie for your hard work!
Maddie is currently adopted. Congratulations Mandi!
Richard
Richard is a 16 year old Percheron/Welsh cross pony. He stands 12 hands. I bought Richard for my son Lucas to ride. Lucas just loves him! Richard is a gentle pony who Lucas enjoys brushing, petting and riding.
Prince
Prince is a 15 year old mule. He stands 14.2 hands. Prince was given to me in 2008 so that he could have a job to do. He went out on an adoption in the Fall of 2008 but came back to Sunshine Acres Fall 2009 as his adopter was no longer able to keep him. I have been riding Prince on trails and will be showing him on Oct 24th at a local show. He will be featured in a breed presentation in November.
Buddy
Buddy is a 15 year old Haflinger gelding. He stands approximately 13.2 hands high. He is the pony I never had as a child. He's very drafty and stout. He is recovering from being neglected by his previous owner and is lame off and on. I ride him when he's able. I'm hoping with consistent hoof care, a great diet and plenty of love, he will recover 100% by Spring 2010. He's so well trained and oh so sweet!
Duke
Duke is a 16 year old Quarter Horse gelding. He's jet black. Duke was given to me late in 2008. He was adopted out to a lady who uses him for trail riding.
